Both Poole lifeboats, the B class Atlantic 85 and the D class, were launched just after 6pm this evening to a report of a missing person.
Solent Coastguard tasked both lifeboat crews to search Poole Harbour. A thorough search ensued but as nothing untoward was found, both lifeboats were stood down and returned to station, refuelled and ready for service by 8.30pm.
This was the first operational launch for our relief fleet D class lifeboat, John Wickens. This will be replaced by Poole’s new D class once it’s finished being constructed at the Inshore Lifeboat Centre in Cowes.
