Both Lifeboats were tasked by Solent Coastguard to search for a reported person in the water ( Thursday March 16)
The lifeboats launched at 19.40 and made haste to Bournemouth Pier, they were shortly on scene where they joined the Police rib, Coastguard helicopter and shore based Coastguards.
The first informant had reported seeing a person entering the water 200 meters east of Bournemouth Pier but had not seen them coming back out.
All assets on scene worked alongside covering between Bournemouth and Boscombe Pier and a mile off to sea, the area was saturated, with the lifeboats conducting a systematic search but nothing untoward was found.
Sea conditions between the piers was calm, it was a dark night, the clouds obscuring the moon, and the lifeboat volunteers deployed their searchlights to scour the area.
Eventually the lifeboats were stood down by Solent Coastguard, the volunteers returned back to station, after refuelling the Lifeboats were ready for service by 21.45
