Poole Lifeboat Launched To Assist Swanage

Poole Lifeboat was tasked at 13:10 (Tuesday August 1st) to assist Swanage Lifeboat  who had a 40ft yacht under tow. The skipper has become unwell so the Swanage crew requested assistance with a medical  evacuation  of the casualty to an ambulance standing by at North Haven Steps.

The Poole crew met up with Swanage Lifeboat almost at the harbour entrance, the casualty was transferred to the ambulance.

The Poole Lifeboat was asked to take over the tow but while en route the rudder jammed hard over and it became impossible to tow in a straight controlled course so the Helmsman requested that the D class  be launched to assist by acting as a sea anchor, the yacht was eventually moored in Poole Quay Boat Haven.

Both boats were back at station ready for service by 15:45.
