Poole lifeboat launched today at 11.20 (Saturday October 7th) to a report of a vessel aground at Giggers Island.
The lifeboat volunteers found the vessel, a 32ft sailing yacht, with one person on-board stranded at the entrance to the Wareham River. Stuck on the mud at the edge of the channel, the vessel was heading up the channel to Wareham. The crew checked that the person was okay and attached a tow line.
The vessel was towed into deep water, the tide was slack at that time. Once re-floated the vessel was happy to continue up the river.
The lifeboat crew returned back to station and after refuelling were ready for service by 13.00..
