A Busy Afternoon For Both Boats 06/04/18

Poole Lifeboat launched today (Friday April 6) at 1.30pm to a report of a vessel aground, stuck in the mud off Cobbs Quay.
The lifeboat volunteers were soon on scene and found a small speedboat with two people on-board sat on the reeds, one of the casualties was wet and cold as they had been in the water to try and nudge the vessel free.
There was a biting South Easterly wind in the harbour, but where the vessel was it was quite sheltered, so the volunteers set to and attached a tow line, re-floating the vessel. As all was well the Lifeboat escorted the vessel back to its mooring at Parkstone Marina.
This was the first ‘Shout’ for trainee lifeboat crew Kitty Preston, well done Kitty!

The lifeboat returned back to station just after 2.30pm and was ready for service, everything was cleaned down and put away, the volunteers were in the lifeboat station just about to head back to work, when a request came through from the Coastguard for both lifeboats to attend Poole Quay Boat Haven. A report had come though that a body had been found in the water.

The lifeboat crews launched and were immediately on scene, they were tasked to search in and around the Marina for anything untoward. Poole Lifeboats were working alongside the Police, Poole coastguard and ambulance crews.

After a thorough search in and around the Marina the lifeboat crews were stood down and both lifeboats returned back to station just before 4pm.
