A Late Night and Early Morning For Poole Lifeboat 29/05/18

Poole lifeboat volunteers were tasked by UK Coastguard at 23.30 (Tuesday May 29) to assist a 30ft Ketch that had gone aground at Goathorn. Goathorn is a quiet area inside Poole Harbour at the back of the islands.
The Ketch with two people on-board had swung on its anchor and gone aground, the lifeboat crew arrived on scene and checked that all was okay , it was decided with the owners that they would wait for the next high tide which would be this morning ( Wednesday May 30) at around 10am. The Lifeboat crew advised the Coastguard of their intentions as they would monitor the yacht overnight.

The lifeboat relaunched this morning at 08.30am to check that the Ketch was okay and to give it a nudge off the mud.
The vessel was re-floated and happily back on course to return to its mooring.
The lifeboat returned back to station and re-fuelled and was ready for service at 10am.
