Volunteer crew members Max and Kitty have just completed their two day Crew Emergency Procedures course at the RNLI College.
During the course they have looked at emergency procedures such as a fire on their own boat and how to put it out, the use of flares if the are in distress and capsize procedures in the Sea Survival Pool. They’ve both had opportunity to capsize both an Atlantic 85 and D class and still live to tell the tale.
Day 2 saw them spend most the day in the pool learning about sea survival techniques so swam in waves, jumped from a 4m platform into the water, inflated lifejackets and ended up in a life raft in big waves, thunder, lightning and rain.
They are such keen crew they are now straight into a five day Seamanship course.
