We launched Aunt Betty’s Pots at our Open Day and they have mainly been at the Old Lifeboat Museum down on Poole Quay, a few holiday makers took some so they may be all over the country, a little bit of Poole!
Betty Pots have been a huge success in the RNLI , it is a simple, yet effective fundraising idea which originated from the RNLI Hertford Branch (and is named after the originator, Betty Frith).
Betty’s 5p Pots uses recycled mini jam jars (the individual portion size), which people fill with 5p pieces and once full, return the jar donating the contents to the RNLI.
Here in Poole we have Aunty Betty Pots named after the Aunt Betty Buoy, which anyone passing through Poole Harbour will know well, its always a welcome site when you are homeward bound.
All we ask is to take a pot and keep it handy for all the shrapnel that you find, lying around the home or in your car, in fact any coins that you wish to donate, it all adds up and will be put to good use, funding the work that our stations do , to help us save lives at sea.
If you would like a pot, please drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can arrange.
